Remember me? [Monday, September 14, 2009 @ 07:42 PM]

So I drove to Northridge to visit Gladys this weekend. I took the 118 so it was really chill and probably only like 50 minutes. It was super super hot in the valley. We got some tasty hot dogs at this place called Fab Hot Dogs that I saw on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and realized was in Reseda like 10 minutes away from CSUN. G and I split awesome garlic fries and the "Texas Burrito Dog," which is basically two hot dogs "wrapped in a flour tortilla with bacon, chili, cheddar cheese, onions, mustard and crumbled Fritos." Freaking amazing. After that we went back to her place and hung out for a few hours. Later that night we went to this huge event at CSUN that had lazer tag, music, food, inflatable obstacle courses, etc etc. It was reallllly crowded, and the line to get in was ridiculous but didn't really phase me since nothing compares to Comic Con. :P It was fun, though! And supposedly Green Lantern themed, but the only thing that even suggested that was the green lights projected occassionally.

The next morning we got up pretty early, ate way too much breakfast food at McDonalds, and headed on down to the Getty Villa. We took Topanga Canyon, so it was really beautiful and a very chill drive. The Villa was gooooooooooorgeous. After taking Visual Cannons last semester with a crazy Greek teacher, I was like OMFG I KNOW ABOUT EVERYTHING IN THIS BITCH. Took a bunch of pictures, drew a bunch of stuff. The gardens are spectacular. I seriously want to move there. I bought some sweet (cheap) stuff at the gift store, and then we headed back to Northridge. We stopped at a really tasty Mexican food place Gladys found on Yelp, and hand AMAAAAZING burritos. Then on our way back to her place, we made a super abrupt stop because we saw an awesome Target all randomly. :P On my way back to my car at CSUN, I tripped on some uneven cement in the dark and now there are seriously bruises all over my knees and shins. :(

I'm still planning on posting about Comic Con at some point. I've just been really busy with school and other lame excuses. School's fun, though! I love my new Graphic Design teacher. He's hilarious, and a total nerd, and quoted Weezer in class the other day, and was talking about Yoda today. Etc. Did I mention that I love him? And my Life Drawing class is pretty awesome, too. I've been putting it off because the concept's sorta scary, but it's actually really rad. I'm getting some great drawings out of it. Particularly the male models. ;] ;]

Now I'm going to wait patiently for some ♥Chuck Bass♥ ;] ;]

MOOD: amused

So I went to Barnes and Noble with my mom earlier, and then to Robeks on the way home for some tasty smoothies. For like three miles before the turn for the street that leads to my neighborhood, there was a car in front of us with a Sarah Palin bumper sticker. A non-ironic one. So right before we pulled up to the street, a cop changed lanes between the car and my mom's. AND THEN HE PULLED THEM OVER. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Awesome.

Thought that was good enough to break my non-update streak. I'll update later with the tales of my amazing SD vacation and comic con. Did I mention that I was in a room with Eliza Dushku? I can probably die happily now.

Long Post of Continuous Update Fail [Sunday, July 05, 2009 @ 11:28 PM]

MOOD: calm
MUSIC: Scream 3

Things I have done so far this summer:

-Watched all three seasons of Friday Night Lights in basically four days. My mom had sort of been trying to get me to watch it for a while but I knew it was going to be depressing, so I'd been putting it off, but I started watching it online and then the first two seasons were $30 together at Target, so I basically got addicted. And it WAS totally depressing, but also totally awesome. I probably cried at least once during every other episode. I don't know if there's a hotter male cast around, and I love me some Texans. THEN I saw it on a list for a TV/Movie-based highschool J2 fic challenge, and OH GOD PLEASE SOMEONE WRITE THAT. I didn't even think about it while I was watching the show, but now I can't stop imagining Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the coach, and Jensen as his son, maybe with Tom Welling as the paralyzed Jason Street, and Jared as his replacement quarterback. Less drama, though. Dazed and Confused is also on the list, and unsurprisingly, I've been writing that fic in my head for the last three years. :P

-Sat in the laptop room at the government center for an entire day, basically reading fic and hoping that my name wouldn't be called. Yayy, Jury Duty! At least I didn't get called.

-Rented Fired Up and actually laughed out loud a bunch of times. I pretty much just rented it for Danneel, but it was actually pretty awesome. I also started watching the Maxim Hot 100 of 2009 randomly, and did a major double-take when I realized she was actually hosting it this year. Good for her. I think she's pretty badass.

-Saw Star Trek a bunch of times, and loved Zachary Quinto even more every time. May or may not have come home and actually gotten out my free posters from Comic Con 08 and hung up the super hot James T Kirk one. Also bought Star Trek eggo waffles, and limited edition Star Trek cereal. :X

-Rented Fanboys, and watched it like five times, including once with the commentary. If you haven't seen it, it's basically Detroit Rock City for nerds, and it's fucking amazing. I still can't believe how many notable people they managed to get in there. I was so happy when Danny McBride showed up at the end. And Carrie Fisher, obviously.

-Saw 17 Again at the Regency ($3 theatre) like four times. Zac Efron is really fine, just in case you know, you're blind and therefore weren't aware. Other than that, Thomas Lennon's character Ned was hiiiiiiiilarious, and I want to live in his house. Overall it was exponentially better than I was expecting. Not even I would have sat through the entire thing with four different people just for Zac Efron's hot ass.

-Bought a dress to wear to my sister's wedding in August. It's going to be extremely non-traditional, and the dress is actually black. It's hot. Also, I got ordained online, and I'm going to be the one officiating their marriage. I will now be referred to as Reverend Charlotte. ;]

-Watched the entire first two seasons of Gossip Girl. Ohhh, Chuck Bass. Stop trying to surpass the Winchesters and Brian Kinney as my favorite TV characters, you loveable brooding bastard. Also, I would like to be in the middle of a Dan & Rufus Humphrey sandwich. I don't think I need to comment on Chace Crawford considering my already very obvious affinity for pretty boys with manly bodies, or just Texans in general. Also, I'm probably going to buy the whole Blair collection when Anna Sui's GG-inspired line comes to Target in September.

-Spent the last week hanging out with my madre. She had the week off from work, so we basically went shopping and chillaxed all week. One day we went to the harbor for Fish and Chips, and another we went thrifting in the morning with my dad and ended up buying an awesome corner bookshelf/armoire for only $20. I may or may not have bought yet another Darth Vader shirt there, too, as well as a rad vintage flowery bracelet, and some crazy British shoes. We also went to Thousand Oaks, where I discovered a store called Love Culture that I'd previously been unaware of. I pretty much loved every article of clothing in there, and surprisingly, they're all fairly cheap. We had lunch at Panera, too, which is always amazing and delicious. Over a few of those days I managed to acquire a pretty impressive headband collection. For super cheap, too. Yay, accessories! With the amount of clothes, scarves, hats, sunglasses, shoes, etc etc that I own, I could seriously have my own boutique.

-Decided to teach myself to cook. I made peanut butter cookies, followed by some rad Tomato Alfredo Penne with chicken, and then a Coconut Creme Pie that was pretty delicious. I even made the crust! I also made lasagna that everyone in my family (and Gladys) totally loved, and a Chocolate Creme Pie. It had a homemade oreo crust, and I even decorated it with fancy whipped creme rosettes on top of the whipped creme topping. Taaaasty.

-Mostly ignored July 4th, except for the huge amount of delicious food I consumed, and the Star Wars Eps 4-6 marathon I decided to have with myself. It was pretty awesome even though I was sort of constantly being interrupted by the fireworks going off all around my neighborhood. :P

-Drooled over tennis this morning, or rather, tennis players. And now ever since I read that Wimbledon J2 fic, my mind can't help but imagine other things. Siiiigh.

As for what I'm doing right now? Planning for Comic Con, watching Scream 3 and reciting the dialogue correctly while MTV's censoring butchers (pun!) every other line, reading Volume 1 of The Boys, and contemplating going downstairs for some frozen yogurt. Aaand now that I've written it, I think I'll go do just that. Thanks for reading if you've actually gotten this far, or if you were bored enough to just skip to the end. Maybe I'll update tomorrow with an easy image-based summary of this post. BYE! ;]

Delirium? Maybe? [Wednesday, May 06, 2009 @ 12:16 AM]

MOOD: artistic
MUSIC: Rush :X

So I'm about 8 single-spaced pages into my 6 double-spaced pages paper on Roman Wall Painting, and as I was looking for more details about the Samnite House just now, I found this:

One intimate note, when the house was excavated a bowl of cookies was found sitting on a table and also on the table was the inscription in Latin, which essentially translate as, "Let love burn here."

The Samnite House is in Herculaneum, by the way. Awww.

U..uhh...uhhpdaa..te? [Sunday, May 03, 2009 @ 10:38 PM]

MOOD: overwhelmed
MUSIC: The NEVERENDING sound coming from my brother's room.

I just had the most productive weekend in forever. On Thursday it was Josh's bday so I met him downtown for lunch at My Florist. We hung out down there for a while and went to Candlelight with some of his friends. Then I went home and watched the new episode of SPN, which, OMFG. The previews for the next week are AMAZING. Plus, it's pretty awesome that Misha had basically his own episode. On Friday I cleaned my room a bunch. Yay cleaning! On Saturday I cleaned some more, and then ended up working on my Adv. Multimedia project until like 3AM. Of course my brother woke me up super early the next morning WEED WHIPPING. My room is on the front of the house upstairs, so it was basically right outside my window. Great Sunday morning wake-up call. I pretty much spent all day working on the same project, as well as this mini presentation I have to do tomorrow in Art Society & Mass Media. My Adv. Multimedia final is essentially a website for a drink we each made up. We've been working on it all semester, and I more-so the last month. Anyway, it's supposed to be amazing and have all kinds of interactivity. It's sort of daunting. I took a break tonight, though, to go see X-Men Origins: Wolverine with Gladys. Hot hot hot movie. I wanted to shave Liev Schreiber's face, though. And touch Ryan Reynolds' arms. And Taylor Kitsch's face. And and and Hugh Jackman's whole body. Cough. I also spent a large portion of the movie thinking that Jared Padalecki would make an awesome Wolverine. He's totally built right for the part.

Speaking of awesome movies... I'M SO HAPPY THE INFORMERS FUCKING FINALLY CAME OUT! Capslock AND expletives. I'm excited, see? Anyway, I went to see it by myself downtown the morning it opened. This is seriously one of my favorite books, so I was pretty much hopping up and down in my seat waiting for it to start, and holy shit. The opening scene was fucking brilliant. I seriously felt the same most of the time while watching the movie as I did when reading the book, and I think it's sort of rare that a movie based on a book actually ends up on the same track. The scene where they were talking about their dead friend was awesome even though they totally changed up the whole Jamie-"dying"-aka-becoming-a-vampire-in-the-desert thing. I also thought the way they linked some of the characters (some of the FEW that he didn't actually link in the book or his other books) was interesting. Obviously some of the changes threw me, but I'm sort of glad they didn't kill off the little kid. The scene with Mickey Rourke picking him up was creepy enough. I'm still mourning the loss of the vampire storyline (except for Dirk's one scene that wasn't even his scene in the book) and the letters from LA. Other than that, I thought it was awesome. Plus, Graham and Tim were my favorite characters in the book, and the actors they picked to play them worked perfectly. And last but definitely not least, I love Wayfarers. Anytime, anywhere. And assuming it's a tall, built man with ridiculous cheekbones and full lips, anyone. ;] ;] ;] (BUT NOT ON SETH ROGAN'S GIRLFRIEND FROM PINEAPPLE EXPRESS. PLZ TO BE WEARING CLOTHING.)

I don't know what else I've been doing other than going to class. Probably reading, watching the Twatlight DVD extras (:X), and drinking soy chai. Ooh, which reminds me. Jazmin discovered his new amazing cyber cafe really close to my house, so I've been going there a bit, too. The interior decorating is AMAZING, and it's huge. It has a really rad venue for shows/meetings/whatever, a rentable screening room they call the Asian room with a huge tat-style coy painted on the wall, a room they call the Armory that's completely set up for gaming (rows and rows of decked out computers and huge tvs with xbox etc), and the cafe part which is called Synapse. They serve all kinds of crazy bottles of soda, too. Plus, free wifi. Yay!

So this is the last week before finals week. I have a presentation to do with Art Society & Mass Media tomorrow. I have my final painting on Roman wallpaper due in Visual Canons on Wednesday. Then I have to have my Adv Multimedia website done by Saturday so I can show it at school during some student research competition or something. Next week I have my portfolio website due on Tuesday in Web Design. And I've barely started that one at all. Then Wednesday I have my final in Art Society & Mass Media. I need a fucking nap.

I met Kristen Dunst outside of The Roxy in Hollywood once. It was at a show where Rooney opened for Maroon 5 in 2002, and all of the Phantom Planet guys were chillaxin there, too. I was actually wearing a Phantom Planet shirt, so Alex Greenwald signed it for me. He and Kristen were dating at the time, so she was standing behind him sort of trying to use her hair to hide her face. I was like "oh, wow, hi" and she smiled and said hello back. She was really sweet, and I think that's the only time I've ever actually been sort of starstruck.

I also met Gregory Smith (from Zenon, Everwood, Harriet the Spy, etc) at the Ventura Theatre once. I was watching Private Selection, and apparently their drummer Dreux's brother was really good friends with Gregory. The show was sort of local and there was hardly any audience at all, so as I was on my way up the stairs to the bathroom, I totally passed him coming down. We exchanged some ridiculous words that I can't even really remember at this point. I just remember freaking out because my friend Nicci used to be obsessed with him when he was in Zenon. He seemed pretty chill, though. I don't think he likes being recognized even though he's not particularly famous.

Other than that I've seen a lot of celebrities randomly (sup Eric Von Detten at an Indian restaurant in Venice Beach and lametrain Shane West at a Germs concert?) And a lot of the people I consider celebrities (the guys from GBH who I talked to for like 15 minutes after a show once or Lucia from KMFDM) probably wouldn't be in other peoples opinions.

OMG wait. I can't forget James N Kirk. He played Timmy who died by way of pigeons in Final Destination 2, and Amanda Bynes' twin brother Sebastian in She's The Man. Anyway, I emailed him once after FD2 came out because I thought he was awesome, and he replied, so we actually kept a steady dialogue going email-style for like a year. He was really radd, and I'd probably still email him if my stupid old email server hadn't vanished without a fucking trace. Taking all James N Kirk and Robert Schwartzman email replies with it. Tear.

WAIT one more. It doesn't really count as meeting, but last year at Comic Con I was walking around the floor by the WB booth, where there happens to be a mini second story with a little balcony. AJ Buckley aka Ed from the Ghostfacers was chillaxin up there with Travis Wester aka Harry, and Brittany Ishibashi aka Maggie. Brittany and Travis were leaning away, but AJ's arms were leaning on the balcony and he was looking around. Right as I noticed him and brought my camera up to take a picture, he looked down, noticed me, and threw me the devil's horns. The picture is sort of blurry because my shutterspeed was still off from the panel we'd just left, but it's still evidence of the best moment of my LIIIIIIIIIFE. He's definitely my hero.

Anyway. I just got back from Gladys'. She had a joint party for her and John's birthdays. It was pretty chill. At least like 5 of us got super cold and ended up snuggling on the couch in blankets and watching SNL. Hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

And omfg. Watchmen was AMAZING. Josh and I met Jazmin there at 10, and got in the only line outside. We were paranoid that we were in the wrong line even though the guys in front of us who had tickets for the same show as us (12:10) said it was the right one. So Josh went and asked the box office, and they said 12:10 was supposed to line up on the other side of the box office. So we went and waited over there, and there was literally no one behind the rope. It was chilly, and Josh is ballsy, so he just slipped into the lobby of the theatre when someone came out. I called his cell and he asked some girl if he could chillax there until his movie started, and then lied saying he was going to see the Jonas Brothers 3D at 11:30. Haaaaaaaaa. Just then Brad walked by and let Jazmin and I into the lobby, so we just waited in there until they were letting in the line for Watchmen. The whole line ended up going into the first theatre (12:00) so once they had filed through, we went over to the other theatre, and there were only like 5 other people in there. Anyway, the movie was awesome. The soundtrack was sweet as hell. And Jeffrey Dean Morgan is beyond amazing. I would like to marry him if at all possible. Kthx.

Sleepy time now. Adios!

So fulllllllll [Thursday, March 05, 2009 @ 05:52 PM]

MOOD: ill
MUSIC: Bad 90s musiq in my h3ad

Josh and I had avocado eggrolls for lunch. Deeeelicious. Although I probably shouldn't have had soy chai before and after. Not a very good combination.

I got tickets for Watchmen at midnight. WHAT UP, JDM?

One of my teachers this semester Liz who I also had last semester told me she nominated me to be in the art program catalog for next year, so that I would just have to submit some of my work on a CD by Friday. It was pretty awesome. Then another one of my teachers from last semester Jim emailed me to tell me that he did the same! So I submitted my CD today with all of the work I did in both of those classes. Not sure exactly what the catalog's going to be like because I think it might be a new thing, but I'm definitely excited to see. :-D

Other than that I've pretty much just been going to school and walking around downtown/ walking around the comic book store. I have a test on Monday for a class that I just noticed I have the wrong book for. Lololol woops. I probably won't even need the book, though. It's mostly slide identification and piece comparison, so I don't think I really need a book to tell me that sort of thing. I'm making two websites for two other classes, and for some reason the layouts are taking me forever to do. I'm never satisfied with them, so I pretty much end up starting over again at the last minute. Le blah.

Josh and I were supposed to go to Disneyland last week, but some crazy shit happened and we ended up just going to IKEA instead. We had awesome Swedish Meatballs and walked around the B&N and Macy's around there, too. Then we went to his house for a while, and back to VTA, where we drew in his sketchbook at Portola for a few hours, and then ran into Belen and Jamie at the bux downtown. I think Ashlae was there too, but that may have just been the next night.

Anyway. I'm going to close some of my tabs and restart my computer now so that I can open Illustrator and actually see the palettes. Le sigh.

Before my entry, I'd like to point out that Friday The 13th just beat out every other horror movie EVER in opening weekend box office earnings. JARED WINS EVERYTHING, BITCHES. Good for them, though, seriously. It was way more awesome than I'd expected.

Anyway. Yesterday I went shopping with my mom. I got a sweater and a sweatshirt track jacket that are pretty awesome. The day before that Josh and I had scoped out the mall and I found a shirt I really liked at the Gap, so I went back and got that too. I also picked up some tinted lip balm because MAC has a HELLO KITTY LINE! I was so stoked when I found out the other day. So I got the Pink Fish lip balm, and I'd already gotten this amazing grey nail polish in On The Prowl. The packaging is so adorable. I gave myself fake french tips in the grey. It's pretty sweet.

On The Prowl

Pink Fish :D
(pic from an ebay listing)

After shopping, we had lunch at Urban Cafe, and then went to the grocery store. Then later Heather came over and we ended up going shopping some random places, and then walked around downtown for an hour or so. There are some amazing boots that I want to get from wild planet but they're 60-some dollars. Fail. Today I went to CPK with Josh for lunch. We had deeelicious avacado eggrolls, and then split this fusilli pasta with baby broccoli, and fresh & sundried tomatoes. I'm still ridiculously full from it. We walked around the mall for a bit after that, and then he came over for a little while so we could watch Brent Corrigan as a merman in Another Gay Sequel. He's so ridiculous and adorable.

My dad finally rebuilt the server (with my old computer) and gave me an ISP, so my website FINALLY, after 5 years, does not redirect. Yay for a working domain! I can finally connect to it through the network again, too, so I can actually update my fanlistings and change my layouts for my website/LJ/etc etc etc. Thank gawd.
